We use the minimum cookies needed to keep you logged in and remember your tweaks. No analytics. No ad-tech. No third-party scripts beyond the React + Babel CDN that compiles the homepage.

§ 01 · WHAT A COOKIE IS
A cookie is a small text file stored by your browser when you visit a website. It can be set by the website itself (a first-party cookie) or by a third-party script the website loads (a third-party cookie). Cookies survive across page loads and, for some, across browser sessions.
§ 02 · OUR POSITION
Strictly-necessary first-party cookies only.
We use cookies for two functional purposes, both first-party. We do not load any third-party tracking, advertising, or analytics scripts on the platform. The only third-party network requests the homepage makes are to the React + Babel CDN at unpkg.com, which serves the JavaScript framework that renders the page — those requests do not set cookies on hotmessldn.com.

§ 04 · WHY NO CONSENT BANNER
Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), cookies that are strictly necessary for a service the user has requested (e.g. keeping them logged in) are exempt from the consent-banner requirement (Reg. 6(4)). Because every cookie we set falls into this exemption, we do not show you a consent banner — it would be theatre.
Forward commitment: if we ever ship a non-essential cookie (an analytics cookie, an A/B-test cookie, a marketing cookie), a consent banner appears before the cookie fires, and the cookie does not fire until you accept. We have no plan to do this.
§ 05 · COOKIES STRIPE SETS DURING CHECKOUT
When you purchase a founding-partner tier, the checkout flow hands off to checkout.stripe.com. Stripe sets its own cookies on that domain (not on hotmessldn.com) for fraud prevention and session management. Stripe is its own controller for those cookies; see stripe.com/cookies-policy.
§ 06 · HOW TO CONTROL COOKIES
Every browser lets you block or clear cookies in its settings. If you block our strictly-necessary cookies, the platform will not be able to keep you logged in.
§ 07 · WHAT WE WILL NEVER PUT IN A COOKIE
- Your name, location, recovery status, or any sensitive attribute.
- A third-party advertising identifier.
- An A/B-test bucket without first asking your consent.
- A cross-site tracking ID.
